Biostimulants Summary
Biostimulants are naturally active substances extracted from the natural environment, not chemically synthesized production. Applied to seeds, plants, or the root systems, biostimulants can induce natural physiological processes in plants. They enhance the efficiency of nutrient and water absorption, improve resistance to biotic and abiotic stress, regulate and enhance soil availability, and contribute to increasing crop yield and quality.
Since biostimulants do not directly act within the plant but operate through indirect physiological mechanisms, stimulating plant absorption and defense while promoting the development of beneficial soil microorganisms, they do not fit neatly into the categories of fertilizers or pesticides. They represent a new form of agricultural product emerging under the recent agricultural innovations.
